Honda City Car Battery Price: City, Amaze and Jazz

Honda City car battery price for a petrol City is about ₹2,900 to ₹4,950 in October 2026 listings for a 35Ah battery in the 38B20L size, and about ₹5,050 to ₹8,050 for the 45Ah 55B24LS battery a diesel i-DTEC City needs. Seven brands sell the petrol size, and their headline warranties look alike. The real differences are in free-replacement months, which run from 18 to 42, and in what each brand's terms ask of you after purchase. This page compares them on the same criteria, then covers the Amaze, Jazz and Civic. One warning for 5th-generation City owners first: a weak battery in that car often shows up as a dashboard full of EPS, ABS and stability warnings, not as a "low battery" message.

Honda City car battery: brand vs brand
All prices below are for the 35Ah petrol size on BatteryBhai, with the warranty split shown on the listing.
Brand | Ranges listed for City petrol | Free-replacement months | Total warranty | Price with old battery | Price without |

Bosch | 38B20L | Not split on listing | 72 months (TyresNMore) | Not listed | ₹2,949 |
What the table shows:
- Exide offers the longest free cover in this size, 42 months on the EPIQ35L, and charges the most for it.
- Livguard's Zing Eterna gives 36 free months for ₹3,349 with exchange, the lowest price for 36 free months in this list.
- Amaron has the widest spread. Its Black range gives only 18 free months, and its Flo ranges give 36. The Amaron name alone tells you little.
- SF Sonic is sold by Exide (listed as "SF SONIC (EXIDE)" by EveryoneChoice), usually slightly cheaper than Exide's own label for similar cover.
- Tata Green's City battery is 32Ah, a B19 case, so compare it with other 32Ah to 33Ah options rather than with 35Ah batteries.
The same batteries, ranked by free months per ₹1,000
A quick way to compare across brands is to divide free-replacement months by price, per ₹1,000 spent. Both bases are shown. Adwin's prices are from its price list (effective 1 June 2026, GST included); for its free months, contact customer care on 1800 8914 007:

The top six are within about 10% of each other on either basis.6) but behind the mainstream 30 to 42 free-month batteries (6.9 to 8.5), because its free period is 24 months.
What each brand's terms ask of you
Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
Register the warranty | Exide asks buyers to register on its portal for paperless warranty settlement, under terms that apply to vehicle batteries bought from 1 July 2026 |
Warranty start date | For at least one Exide range, warranty runs from the date of sale or manufacture, whichever is earlier, so old stock arrives with less cover |
Transfer | Exide's terms end coverage if the battery is transferred to a new owner, so a used City's battery warranty is usually gone |
Pro-rata | Every brand's pro-rata share is set by its warranty card; ask to see it before you pay |
Why a weak battery looks like a fault on the 5th-gen City
A Team-BHP owner of a 5th-generation City reported, in July 2022, that a run-down battery produced EPS, ABS, vehicle stability and auto-headlight warnings at once, and the engine would not crank, while the music system and fans kept working. Nothing was broken. As the owner explained, the car's computer stops cranking when battery voltage gets dangerously low, to protect the battery. Thirty minutes of driving after a jump start cleared everything.
If your City shows several unrelated warnings together, check the battery before you book an expensive diagnosis. Our guide to jump-starting a car battery covers doing it safely, and bad car battery symptoms lists the other signs.
Honda City diesel: the 45Ah battery
The i-DTEC diesel City needs a 45Ah battery in the 55B24LS size, longer than the petrol's 38B20L. BatteryBhai lists:
Battery | Free + pro-rata | With old battery | Without |
|---|---|---|---|
Powerzone PZ46B24LS | 25 + 25 | ₹5,049 | ₹6,349 |
SF Sonic 72S 55LS | 36 + 36 | ₹5,599 | ₹6,999 |
Amaron Pro 55B24LS | 36 + 36 | ₹6,149 | ₹7,349 |
Exide Matrix Red MTRED45L | 36 + 36 | ₹6,549 | ₹8,049 |
The exchange discount is larger on the diesel size: ₹1,200 to ₹1,500 here, against ₹800 to ₹900 for the petrol battery. That makes it worth keeping the old battery for the shop rather than selling it separately. The diesel's battery also works harder than the petrol's. A 1.5-litre diesel needs more cranking current, and if the car spends most of its time in city traffic, the battery rarely gets a full recharge. On a diesel City or Amaze that you plan to keep, a 36 free-month battery is the safer choice; three of the four listed above offer it.
Honda stopped making diesel engines in India from February 2023, as Autocar India reported, and dropped the 1.5-litre diesel with the April 2023 BS6 Phase 2 change. Every diesel City is now at least three years old.
Honda car battery
Most Honda car battery needs in India fall into two sizes: the 35Ah 38B20L for petrol City, Amaze and Jazz models, and the 45Ah 55B24LS for diesel models and the Civic. Honda delisted the Jazz, the WR-V and the 4th-generation City from 1 April 2023, according to CarWale, but batteries for all of them remain widely stocked. The practical rule for any Honda is the same: diesel means the longer 45Ah battery, petrol means the 35Ah one, and the label on the battery in your car settles any doubt. If you have just bought a used Honda and the label is missing or unreadable, a battery shop can measure the tray and read the size from the old case.
Honda car battery cost by model
Model | Fuel | Size | Honda car battery cost (verify at publish) |
|---|---|---|---|
City | Petrol | 35Ah 38B20L | ₹2,900 to ₹4,950 |
City | Diesel | 45Ah 55B24LS | ₹5,050 to ₹8,050 |
Amaze | Petrol | 35Ah 38B20L | ₹3,049 to ₹5,449 |
Amaze | Diesel | 45Ah 55B24LS | ₹4,799 to ₹8,105 |
Jazz | Petrol | 35Ah 38B20L | ₹2,949 to ₹5,449 |
Civic | Petrol / diesel | 45Ah 55B24LS | ₹7,099 to ₹8,849 |
Honda Amaze car battery
The Honda Amaze car battery follows the same rule as the City: 35Ah 38B20L for the 1.2-litre petrol and 45Ah 55B24LS for the 1.5-litre diesel. TyresNMore lists the same 35Ah batteries for the Amaze as for the Jazz and City petrol.

Honda Jazz car battery
The Honda Jazz car battery is the 35Ah 38B20L for the petrol Jazz, at ₹2,949 (Bosch) to ₹4,449 (Exide EPIQ35L) on TyresNMore. TyresNMore also lists 45Ah batteries (Amaron Pro 55B24LS, Exide MTRED45L) for the Jazz, which match the diesel Jazz sold from 2015. Match the code on your current label.
Honda Jazz car battery size
The Honda Jazz car battery size for the petrol car is the JIS 38B20L case. In that code, 38 is a performance rank, B is the width and height class, 20 is the case length in centimetres, and L puts the positive terminal on the left when the terminals face you. Livguard lists the 38B20L case at 197 x 129 x 225 mm on its fitment pages. A 55B24LS for the diesel is about 4 cm longer.
Honda Civic car battery price
The Honda Civic car battery price is about ₹7,099 (Amaron Pro 55B24LS, 72 months) to ₹7,499 (Exide MTRED45L, 72 months) at TyresNMore, against MRPs of ₹8,449 and ₹8,849. Both are 45Ah batteries.
How to choose between the brands in practice
The free-months tables show that most mainstream brands are close on value. What separates them in real life is what happens when a battery fails.
- Where will you claim? A warranty claim usually goes back to an authorised dealer, who tests the battery before replacing it. Pick a brand with a dealer you can reach easily from home or office. A 36-month warranty claimed through a dealer 40 km away is worth less than a 30-month one claimed down the road.
- Who keeps the paperwork? Exide asks buyers to register on its portal for paperless claims. Whatever the brand, photograph the invoice and the label on the day you buy.
- How fresh is the stock? A busy dealer turns stock over faster. Ask to see the manufacture code and compare two shops if one has older batteries.
- What size did Honda fit? Match your label first. A brand that does not make your size, or has it out of stock, is not a choice.
Looking after a 5th-gen City battery
Newer cars draw a small current even when parked, to keep the alarm, keyless entry and electronics ready. A City that sits for two or three weeks, or is used only for short runs, can drift down to the low voltage that triggers the warning cluster described above. Three habits help: drive the car for at least half an hour once a week, avoid running the infotainment for long with the engine off, and if the car will stand for several weeks, ask a fitter about a maintenance charger. If the battery keeps going flat even with good habits, have the charging system and any parasitic drain checked; our guide to alternator vs battery explains the tests.
Honest pros and cons: premium vs mid-range battery for a City
Mid-range (30 free months) | Premium (36 to 42 free months) | |
|---|---|---|
Typical price with exchange | ₹3,049 to ₹3,449 | ₹3,349 to ₹4,049 |
Free cover | 30 months | 36 to 42 months |
Value per free month | Close to premium | Slightly better on most models |
Worth it if | You sell the car within three years | You keep the car four years or more |
Catch | Pro-rata terms vary by brand | Old stock can eat into the longer cover |
Decision framework
Strong fit for a premium 35Ah battery (36+ free months): a petrol City you will keep for four years or more, especially a 5th-generation car whose electronics react badly to low voltage.
Strong fit for a mid-range 35Ah battery: a City you will sell within three years.
Strong fit for a 45Ah 55B24LS: any diesel City, Amaze or Jazz, and the Civic.
Not a fit: a 35Ah battery in a diesel Honda, an 18-month budget battery in a car you plan to keep, or a battery more than three months past its manufacture date. Our guide to battery shelf life explains why.
The Adwin option for Honda cars
Petrol City, Amaze and Jazz. Adwin makes two batteries in the 38B20L size. Prices below are from Adwin's price list effective 1 June 2026 (verify at publish):
Adwin model | Capacity | Warranty | Customer price (GST included) | MRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
AB-40B20L | 35Ah | Contact customer care (1800 8914 007) | ₹4,316 | ₹5,810 |
38B20L | 35Ah | Contact customer care (1800 8914 007) | ₹3,560 | ₹4,544 |
How it compares. Adwin's case is a clear, fixed price. Its list gives one GST-inclusive customer price for the whole of India except Jammu and Kashmir and the North-East, while the same competitor battery can vary by more than ₹1,000 between shops on the same day. Adwin's list does not mention an exchange price, so ask the dealer what your old battery is worth. For warranty terms on either model, contact Adwin customer care on 1800 8914 007 before you buy, and compare the free-replacement months they confirm with the brands on this page, the same way this guide compares every other battery.
Which Adwin battery to choose:
- AB-40B20L (₹4,316): the higher-priced of Adwin's two 35Ah models, for a petrol Honda you drive daily and plan to keep.
- 38B20L (₹3,560): Adwin's lowest-priced 35Ah model, for a petrol Honda you plan to sell soon, or a second car that is used rarely.
Diesel City, Amaze and Jazz, and the Civic. Adwin's current automotive list has no 45Ah 55B24LS battery, so we do not recommend an Adwin battery for these cars today. Choose one of the 55B24LS batteries listed above.
Adwin Power has made batteries at its plant in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, since 2010, and is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified. Call 1800 8914 007 with your car's model, year and fuel and we will confirm the fit. See the range on our automobile batteries page.
FAQs
What is the Honda City car battery price?
Honda City car battery price is about ₹2,900 to ₹4,950 for the petrol City's 35Ah battery and about ₹5,050 to ₹8,050 for the diesel City's 45Ah battery, in October 2026 listings. Exchanging your old battery lowers the price by roughly ₹800 to ₹1,500. Verify at publish.
Which battery brand is best for the Honda City?
No single brand wins on every measure. On free-replacement cover per rupee, Livguard Zing Eterna, Exide EPIQ35L, Amaron Flo 40B20L and SF Sonic 72S are close, each giving about 10 free months per ₹1,000. Amaron's Black range gives the least.
Why does my Honda City show EPS and ABS warnings together?
On the 5th-generation City, a weak battery can trigger EPS, ABS, stability and headlight warnings together and block cranking, because the car protects the battery when voltage drops too low. Charge or test the battery before assuming a fault.
What is the Honda Amaze car battery price?
The petrol Amaze takes a 35Ah battery at about ₹3,049 to ₹5,449. The diesel Amaze takes a 45Ah 55B24LS at about ₹4,799 with exchange to ₹8,105 without, depending on brand.
What is the Honda Jazz car battery size?
The petrol Jazz uses a 35Ah battery in the JIS 38B20L size, listed by Livguard at 197 x 129 x 225 mm for this case, with the positive terminal on the left. The diesel Jazz uses the longer 45Ah 55B24LS.
What is the Honda Civic car battery price?
About ₹7,099 to ₹7,499 at TyresNMore for a 45Ah 55B24LS battery from Amaron or Exide, with 72 months of total warranty. MRPs are ₹8,449 and ₹8,849.
Is the Honda car battery cost covered by Honda's car warranty?
Not usually. The original battery is normally covered by the battery maker's warranty, and replacement batteries carry their own maker's warranty, not Honda's. Check your vehicle warranty booklet and the battery label.
How long does a Honda City battery last?
Typically three to five years in Indian conditions. Heat, short trips and cars parked for long periods shorten it. Our guide to car battery lifespan covers the factors.
What is the Adwin battery price for Honda City?
For a petrol City, Amaze or Jazz, Adwin's 38B20L costs ₹3,560 and the AB-40B20L costs ₹4,316, GST included, on its price list effective 1 June 2026; for warranty terms, contact Adwin customer care on 1800 8914 007. Adwin does not currently list the 45Ah 55B24LS that diesel Hondas and the Civic need.
Conclusion
Honda City car battery price is about ₹2,900 to ₹4,950 for a petrol City and ₹5,050 to ₹8,050 for a diesel, and the brands are closer than their advertising suggests. Compare free-replacement months per rupee, not the headline warranty, match the size code on your current label, and register the warranty on the day you buy. If your 5th-generation City throws a cluster of warnings, test the battery first. For other popular cars, see our guides to the Swift car battery price and the Tata Tiago battery price.
