Tata Tiago Battery Price: Tiago, Punch and Nano Fitment

Tata Tiago battery price for the petrol car runs from about ₹4,400 to ₹7,100 in October 2026 listings, depending on brand, capacity (44Ah to 55Ah) and whether you hand over your old battery. What catches most Tiago owners is the box, not the price. The Tiago does not take the common 35Ah "38B20L" battery that fits a Swift, Wagon R or Alto. It takes a larger European DIN-size battery, usually labelled DIN44R or DIN50R, with the positive post on the right. Many Tata cars use right-hand positive batteries, so a shop that hands you a left-hand battery has given you one whose cables will not reach. The seven steps below get the right battery into a Tiago, Punch, Nano or older Indica without paying for the wrong one.
Tata Tiago battery price at a glance, with every Tata car
Car | Battery type in retail fitment lists | Typical capacity | Positive terminal | Street price range (verify at publish) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Tiago petrol (2016 onwards) | DIN size, flat plate or EFB | 44Ah to 55Ah | Right (R) | ₹4,400 to ₹7,100 |
Punch petrol / CNG (2021 onwards) | DIN size or D23 size, EFB on idle start-stop trims | 47Ah to 70Ah | Right (R) | ₹5,400 to ₹8,500 |
Nano | Small Japanese size (factory battery was 25Ah) | 25Ah to 35Ah | Right (R) | ₹3,100 to ₹4,500 |
Indica / Indigo petrol | 38B20R | 35Ah | Right (R) | ₹3,100 to ₹4,500 |
Indigo diesel | DIN55 or D26 size | 55Ah to 65Ah | Right (R) | ₹6,400 to ₹7,100 |
Nexon BS4 (2017 to 2020) | DIN44 or DIN50 | 44Ah to 50Ah | Listings show both, check your label | ₹5,800 to ₹6,200 |
Step 1: Identify your exact car, fuel and trim
Write down three things from your registration certificate or the sticker inside the door: model, year and fuel. Then check one feature: does your engine switch itself off at traffic lights? That is idle start-stop (ISS), and it changes the battery you need.
Tata offered idle start-stop as standard on every Punch at launch, then from October 2022 kept it only on the Accomplished and Creative trims, according to CarWale's report on the change. An ISS car cycles its battery far harder than a normal car, so retailers list Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) models such as the Amaron EFB DIN52R for the Punch. Fitting an ordinary flooded battery to an ISS car is the most common way to buy a battery twice.
Step 2: Read the label on your old battery
The fastest fitment check is not an online finder. It is the label already in your engine bay. Look for three things:
- The size code. "DIN44R", "DIN50R" or "38B20R".
- The letters EFB or ISS anywhere on the label.
- The manufacture code, which tells you how old the battery really is.
Tata Tiago battery model: what the label code means
The Tata Tiago battery model printed on most replacement labels is a DIN code. "DIN" means the case follows the European DIN standard, the number (44, 50, 55) is the nominal capacity in Ah, and the letter tells you which side the positive post sits on. Japanese codes work differently: in "38B20R", 38 is a performance rank, B is the width and height class, 20 is the case length in centimetres, and R means the positive terminal is on the right when the terminals face you. Match the code letter for letter. A DIN44R and a DIN44L are the same battery mirrored, and only one will reach your cables.
Step 3: Shortlist by free-replacement months, not total warranty
Every battery label quotes one big number, such as "60 months". That number adds two periods together: free replacement, when a failed battery is swapped at no cost, and pro-rata, when you pay part of the price for a replacement. Exide's own FAQ says the label "specifies the total number of months covered under Free Replacement and Pro-Rata period". The free months are the ones that matter most.
Tata Tiago car battery price by brand
Battery | Capacity | Warranty | Price without old battery | Price with old battery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Adwin (price list effective 1 June 2026) | No DIN44R or DIN50R model | NA | NA | NA |
Amaron Flo 545106036 | 45Ah | 55 months (30 free + 25 pro-rata) | ₹5,399 | ₹4,399 |
Exide Mileage Red MREDDIN44R | 44Ah | 48 months (24 free + 24 pro-rata) | ₹5,750 | ₹4,750 |
SF Sonic DIN47R EFB | 47Ah | 60 months | ₹5,449 | Not listed |
Exide Mileage MLDIN44R | 44Ah | 60 months | ₹5,799 | Not listed |
Amaron Flo 550113042 (DIN50R) | 50Ah | 60 months | ₹5,799 | Not listed |
Exide Mileage MLDIN55R | 55Ah | 60 months | ₹7,099 | Not listed |
.The cheapest real saving in this table is the exchange: handing over your old battery takes about ₹1,000 off. A bigger battery, such as 55Ah in place of 44Ah, costs about ₹1,300 more and gives the Tiago's small 1.2-litre engine no practical benefit unless the car carries extra electrical accessories.
Tata Punch battery
The Tata Punch battery is where retail fitment lists disagree most. TyresNMore lists a 47Ah DIN EFB from SF Sonic and 65Ah to 68Ah D23-size batteries from Amaron and Exide. BatteryBhai lists Amaron's 52Ah EFB in DIN size and 65Ah to 70Ah D23-size options. Both sizes are sold for the same car, because different production batches and trims left the factory with different batteries.
This is exactly why Step 2 matters. If your Punch has idle start-stop (Accomplished and Creative trims after October 2022, or any trim before), replace like with like: EFB for EFB. If your label says DIN, buy DIN. If it says D23, buy D23.

Amaron Go 85D23R | Flat plate, D23 | 65Ah | 48 months (24 + 24) | ₹7,199 | ₹5,449 |
Amaron EFB 100D23R | EFB, D23 | 70Ah | 48 months (24 + 24) | ₹7,349 | ₹5,599 |

Sources: BatteryBhai and TyresNMore (prices stamped 19 August 2026 on TyresNMore). Verify at publish. On the Punch, the exchange value is larger, about ₹1,750 on Amaron's D23 battery.
Tata Nano car battery
The Tata Nano car battery is not under the bonnet. It sits under the driver's seat, and Nano owners on The Automotive India forum describe sliding the seat fully forward and removing the hold-down rods to get it out. The factory fitted a small 25Ah battery. Retailers now mostly sell 35Ah 38B20R batteries for the Nano at ₹3,099 to ₹4,499, and Amaron's helpline told one owner a 35Ah unit could be fitted. That owner's installer took an hour and described the fit as "not so perfect", because the 35Ah case is larger than the space was designed for.
If you own a Nano, ask the shop to confirm the case dimensions before fitting, or ask specifically for a 25Ah to 32Ah battery in the original size. A battery that rubs against the seat frame is a safety problem, not a bargain.
Tata Indica car battery price
The Tata Indica car battery price is the lowest in the Tata range because the petrol Indica uses the common 35Ah Japanese size, in its right-hand form: 38B20R. Listings run from ₹3,099 (Bosch, 78 months) through ₹3,199 (Amaron Go, 60 months) and ₹3,699 (Exide Mileage, 60 months) to ₹4,499 (Exide EPIQ, 77 months), on TyresNMore. The trap is the letter. The left-hand 38B20L that fits a Maruti is the same price and on the same shelf, and it will not suit an Indica's cables.
Tata Indigo car battery
The Tata Indigo car battery depends on the fuel. The petrol Indigo uses the same 35Ah 38B20R as the Indica. The diesel Indigo needs much more cranking power, and listings show 55Ah to 65Ah batteries, such as the Exide Mileage DIN55R (₹7,099) and the Amaron Go 95D26R (₹6,399). Fitting the petrol battery to a diesel Indigo is a guaranteed slow start on the first cold morning.
Tata Nexon car battery
The Tata Nexon car battery for the BS4 Nexon (2017 to 2020) is a DIN44 or DIN50 battery in retail lists, priced at about ₹5,800 to ₹6,200. One retailer lists both a DIN50L and a DIN50R for the same car, which again points back to your label. The Nexon EV is a different matter: its 12V auxiliary battery is separate from the traction pack, and our guide to EV battery vs car battery explains the difference.
Step 4: Check the manufacture date on the new battery
A battery starts losing charge from the day it is filled, even on a shelf. Our guide to battery shelf life covers how storage age affects day-one capacity. There is also a warranty reason. Exide's warranty terms for vehicle batteries sold from 1 July 2026 state that, for at least one range, warranty runs from "Date of Sale or Manufacturing whichever is earlier". A battery that sat in a warehouse for eight months can arrive with eight months of its warranty already used. Ask to see the manufacture code and refuse anything older than about three months.
Step 5: Fit it safely
- Switch off the ignition and remove the key.
- Disconnect the negative (black) terminal first, then the positive (red).
- Remove the hold-down clamp and lift the old battery out. DIN batteries are heavy, so lift with your legs and keep the case upright.
- Clean the terminals and clamp area, then seat the new battery with the positive post on the same side as before.
- Connect positive first, then negative, and tighten the hold-down so the battery cannot move.
- Start the car and check that the battery warning light goes out.
If the car starts slowly even with a new battery, the battery may not be the problem. Our guide to alternator vs battery shows how to tell the two apart before you pay for another one.
Step 6: Hand over the old battery properly
The exchange discount is worth ₹1,000 to ₹1,750 on these cars. Lead-acid batteries must also go back into the recycling chain rather than to a scrap dealer who may drain the acid on open ground. Our guide to car battery disposal explains why the exchange route matters.
Step 7: Register the warranty the day you buy
Keep the invoice, photograph the label, and register the battery on the maker's portal. Exide asks end customers to register on its portal for paperless warranty settlement, and its terms void the warranty if the battery is transferred to another owner or if the serial or manufacturing code is tampered with. Registration takes five minutes. Arguing about a missing invoice in month 29 takes much longer.
Honest pros and cons of upgrading capacity on a Tata
Same capacity as original | One size up (for example 44Ah to 50Ah or 55Ah) | |
|---|---|---|
Fits the tray and hold-down | Yes | Check first; DIN55 is longer than DIN44 |
Cold-start margin | Adequate for Indian weather | More margin for heavy accessories |
Cost | Lowest | About ₹500 to ₹1,300 more |
Charging | Matched to the alternator | A slightly larger battery takes longer to recharge on short trips |
Best for | Most Tiago and Punch owners | Cars with aftermarket audio, dashcams running while parked, or long idle periods |
Decision framework
Strong fit for a like-for-like DIN replacement: a Tiago or non-ISS Punch driven daily, with the original label readable. Buy the same code, compare the free-replacement months, and use the exchange.
Strong fit for an EFB battery: any Punch with idle start-stop. Do not downgrade to flat plate to save ₹500.
Marginal fit for upsizing: cars with extra electrical load. The gain is real but small, and only worth it if the larger case fits the tray.
Not a fit: a left-hand battery in a right-hand Tata, a petrol-size battery in a diesel Indigo, or an oversized battery forced under a Nano's seat.
The Adwin option for Tata cars
We make car batteries, and we will not sell you one that does not fit. Adwin's current automotive price list (effective 1 June 2026) has no DIN44R or DIN50R battery for the Tiago, no DIN or D23 EFB battery for the Punch, and no right-hand 38B20R for the Nano, Indica or petrol Indigo. Its 35Ah batteries are left-hand 38B20L units, which suit Maruti and Honda petrol cars, not these Tatas. So for the cars on this page, choose from the brands in the tables above.
If you also own a Maruti or Honda petrol car, Adwin's 38B20L (₹3,560) and AB-40B20L (₹4,316) fit it; for warranty terms, contact Adwin customer care on 1800 8914 007; see our Swift car battery price guide for how they compare.
Adwin Power has made batteries at its plant in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, since 2010, and is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified. Call 1800 8914 007 with your car's model, year and fuel and we will confirm the fit. See the range on our automobile batteries page.
FAQs
What is the Tata Tiago battery price in 2026?
Tata Tiago battery price for the petrol model ranges from about ₹4,400 to ₹7,100 in October 2026 listings. The lower end assumes you exchange your old battery and choose a 44Ah to 45Ah model, and the upper end is a 55Ah battery bought outright. Verify current prices at publish.
Which battery fits a Tata Tiago?
Most Tiago petrol cars take a DIN-size battery of 44Ah to 50Ah with the positive terminal on the right, sold as DIN44R or DIN50R. Read the label on your current battery and match the code exactly, including the R.
What is the Tata Punch battery price?
Tata Punch battery price runs from about ₹5,400 with exchange to ₹8,500 without, depending on whether your car takes a DIN-size or D23-size battery and whether it needs an EFB model for idle start-stop.
Does the Tata Punch need an EFB battery?
If your Punch has idle start-stop, yes. Tata fitted it to every Punch at launch and, from October 2022, only to the Accomplished and Creative trims. Replace an EFB battery with another EFB battery.
Where is the Tata Nano car battery located?
The Tata Nano car battery sits under the driver's seat, not under the bonnet. To remove it, slide the seat fully forward and take out the hold-down rods.
Can I fit a 35Ah battery in a Tata Nano?
It can be done, but it is a tight fit, because the factory battery was a smaller 25Ah unit. Ask the shop to confirm the new battery's dimensions before fitting so it does not press against the seat frame.
What is the Tata Indica car battery price?
A 35Ah 38B20R battery for the petrol Indica costs about ₹3,099 to ₹4,499 in October 2026 listings, depending on brand and warranty. Make sure the code ends in R, not L.
Is the warranty on a car battery transferable if I sell my Tata?
Usually not. Exide's warranty terms state that coverage ends if the battery is transferred to anyone other than the original purchaser. If you buy a used Tata, assume the battery has no warranty left.
How long does a Tata Tiago battery last?
Most flat-plate car batteries in Indian conditions last about three to five years, with heat and short trips at the lower end. Our guide to car battery lifespan covers what shortens it.
Does Adwin make a battery for the Tata Tiago?
YesAdwin's automotive price list effective 1 June 2026 has no DIN44R or DIN50R battery, which is what the Tiago takes, so choose from the brands compared above. Adwin's 35Ah batteries are left-hand 38B20L units that fit Maruti and Honda petrol cars.
Conclusion
Tata Tiago battery price is easy to compare once the right box is on the counter: a DIN44R or DIN50R battery for about ₹4,400 to ₹7,100, with the exchange worth about ₹1,000. The costly mistakes are all fitment mistakes: a left-hand battery in a right-hand Tata, a flat-plate battery in an idle start-stop Punch, or an oversized battery under a Nano's seat. Read your old label, compare free-replacement months, check the manufacture date and register the warranty on the day. If your Tata is showing slow starts, read our guide to bad car battery symptoms before you buy.
