Swift car battery price depends almost entirely on one letter in your variant name. A petrol Swift (LXi, VXi, ZXi) takes a 35Ah battery in the 38B20L size that costs about ₹2,950 to ₹5,450 in October 2026 listings. A diesel Swift (LDi, VDi, ZDi) takes a much larger 65Ah DIN65 battery that costs about ₹4,700 to ₹7,550. That is nearly double the capacity, because a diesel engine needs far more current to crank. Fitting the petrol battery to a VDi is the most common Swift battery mistake, and even some online listings get it wrong. This guide decodes every Swift and Dzire generation and fuel, then gives the price for each.

Maruti Suzuki stopped selling diesel cars from April 2020, when BS6 emission rules came in. Every diesel Swift on the road today is therefore at least six years old, and almost every one has had at least one battery change. If you bought yours used, do not assume the battery in it is the right one.

For the 2024 Swift, retailers list the same 35Ah battery, and the variant feature lists we checked do not mention idle start-stop. Still read your label: if it says EFB, replace it with EFB.

Swift petrol: battery and price

Every petrol Swift since 2005 uses the same Japanese-size battery. Here is what it costs at TyresNMore (listings for Swift petrol, 2013 onwards, checked 6 October 2026):

Livguard lists three 35Ah options for the Swift petrol on its own fitment page: Zing Ultra (30 + 30 months), Zing Primo (18 + 18 months) and a Cab battery (12 + 3 months, meant for taxis), without prices.

How to pick among them: all eight batteries in the table are the same size and fit the same tray, so the choice is about cover and price. The gap between the cheapest 60-month battery (₹3,049) and the 72-month batteries (₹3,899 to ₹4,199) is ₹850 to ₹1,150. That buys a year of extra total warranty, and on most brands six extra free months. If you drive the Swift every day and plan to keep it beyond three years, that extra cover usually pays for itself the first time a battery fails early. If the car is a weekend runner or you are selling soon, a 60-month battery is enough. The Exide Eezy is the only 33Ah option in the list, slightly smaller in reserve, and is not cheaper here, so there is little reason to choose it for a Swift.

The Exide Swift car battery price for a petrol car starts at about ₹3,599 for the Mileage ML38B20L (60 months) and rises to ₹4,449 for the EPIQ35L (77 months). For a diesel Swift, Exide's Mileage MLDIN66 lists at about ₹6,250 to ₹7,400 and the Mileage Red MRDIN65LH at ₹7,535, or ₹6,100 with your old battery. Exide's warranty terms for batteries bought from 1 July 2026 ask buyers to register on its portal, and for at least one range the warranty runs from the date of sale or manufacture, whichever is earlier, so check the manufacture code before you pay.

Amaron swift car battery price

The Amaron Swift car battery price for a petrol car runs from about ₹3,049 (Amaron Go 38B20L, 60 months) to ₹4,199 (Amaron Flo 42B20L, 72 months) at TyresNMore. Amaron battery for Swift diesel

The Amaron battery for Swift diesel is the Amaron Flo DIN65, model 565106590, rated 65Ah. Retailers list it at about ₹5,900 to ₹6,969 without exchange, or ₹5,100 with your old battery on EveryoneChoice, with 55 to 60 months of warranty depending on the listing (verify at publish). It is the same DIN65 left-hand size as the Exide, SF Sonic and Livguard alternatives in the table below.

One listing in this category got it wrong. The same retailer page that listed the DIN65 batteries above also showed a 35Ah 38B20L battery under "Swift diesel". A 35Ah battery is the petrol spec. It will fit the tray only loosely, it will not reach the DIN terminals the same way, and it does not have the reserve to crank a 1.3-litre diesel on a cold morning. If anyone, a website or a mechanic, offers you a 35Ah battery for a VDi, say no.

The Swift VDi car battery price is the diesel price: about ₹4,700 to ₹7,550 for a 65Ah DIN65 battery, depending on brand and exchange. VDi, LDi and ZDi all take the same battery. The trim letter changes the features, not the engine.

Swift Dzire car battery: same as the Swift?

Yes, fuel for fuel. The Swift Dzire car battery is the same as the Swift's: 35Ah 38B20L for petrol and DIN65 for diesel. The confusion comes from the name. Maruti sold the "Swift Dzire" from 2008, renamed it simply "Dzire" in 2017, and the Dzire Tour is the taxi version. Battery shops still file all of them under "Swift Dzire". Decode by fuel, not by name.

Why does the diesel need nearly double the capacity?

A diesel engine has no spark. It ignites fuel by compressing air until it is hot enough, which means a far higher compression ratio, which means the starter motor has to turn a much stiffer engine. The diesel also has glow plugs that draw current before cranking in cold weather. A 65Ah DIN65 battery has the reserve and cranking current for that; a 35Ah battery does not. Buying a used diesel Swift? Check the battery before you agree a price

Because Maruti stopped selling diesel cars in April 2020, every diesel Swift or Dzire for sale is a used car, and most have had their battery replaced at least once by someone who may not have known the diesel rule. Before you agree a price:

• Open the bonnet and read the label. You want DIN65 or a 65Ah to 66Ah DIN battery with the positive terminal on the left. A 35Ah 38B20L in a diesel is a red flag: the car may have been struggling to start, and the seller may have fitted the cheapest battery that would get it through a test drive.
• Find the manufacture code. A battery more than three years old is near the end of its typical life in Indian conditions.
• Assume no warranty. Exide's terms end battery warranty on transfer to another owner, and other makers' cards usually say the same. Budget ₹4,700 to ₹7,550 for a new battery and use it in the negotiation.
• Watch the first cold start. A diesel that cranks slowly, or needs a long glow-plug wait, on a cool morning has a weak battery, a weak starter or both.

Fitting a DIN65 in a diesel Swift

A DIN65 is longer and heavier than the petrol 38B20L. Make sure the hold-down clamp grips the base or top of the case firmly, because a battery that moves on rough roads cracks its terminals. Connect the positive cable first and the negative last, and check that the terminal covers are back in place. Batteries vent small amounts of gas during charging, so keep the vent path on the case clear and do not tape over it.

Strong fit for a 35Ah 38B20L with 30+ free months: any petrol Swift or Dzire used daily.

Marginal fit for a B19 33Ah battery: a petrol Swift used occasionally. It is listed and cheaper, but has less reserve.
